Systems Thinking Workshop, Kenya

The Adapting assessment into policy and learning (ADAPT): Adolescent 21st Century Skills systems mapping workshop in Kenya brought together participants from the Ministry of Education, Teachers Service Commission,Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development,Primary and Secondary School Teachers, Usawa Agenda, Zizi Afrique, People's Action for Learn Network (PAL Network), EducAfrica Foundation, Kenyatta University, Strathmore University, Aga Khan University, Ngong Technical Institute and Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

This workshop aimed at identifying areas in the assessment up take space that need intervention and quickly.The issues raise by most of the particiapants included : Lack of understanding of 21st Century Skills, Inadequate resources to train teachers before impemnting new curriculums, lack of sybergy among key stakeholders and focus on mainstream subjects in terms of assessments.

The workshop was facilitated by Resilient Africa Network, GESCI and Makerere University's College of Education and External Studies.
 

The ADAPT project is implemented by a Consortium of 3 partners: GESCI, Makerere University College of Education and External Studies and University of Notre Dame’s Global Center for the Development of the Whole Child and funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) under the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX) program and is implemented in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania
