Launch of Formative Study Report on Utilisation of Learning Assessments in Tanzania

Unguja, Zanzibar: The Global e-Schools and Communities Initiative -GESCI in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MOEVT)in Zanzibar and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Tanzania Mainland launched a research report on use of assessments as part of implementation of the Adapting assessment into policy and learning(ADAPT): Adolescent 21st Century Skills Project.

This event brought together organisations under the Regional Education Learning Initiative-RELI, the Zanzibar Institute on Education, teachers and other stakeholders from the university and the media space.

The research findings were presented by Dr. Katherine Fulgence who led the research process.

The Principal Secretary MOEVT, Mr. Ali Khamis Juma attended the event.Speaking to the participants, he said that the ministry will use the findings from the report  in the implementation of a reform strategy in the education sector in the country based on the views of stakeholders in the sector.

The ADAPT project is implemented by a Consortium of 3 partners: GESCI, Makerere University College of Education and External Studies and University of Notre Dame’s Global Center for the Development of the Whole Child and funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) under the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX) program and is implemented in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
