For the third year, eKitabu in collaboration with Teachers Service Commission (TSC), CEMASTEA and Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) has organized an award ceremony for secondary school teachers.This helps promote ICT Integration in teaching and learning  which helps achieve trans formative educational outcomes. In 2019, GESCI teachers from the counties of Nyamira, Taita Taveta, Kiambu and Narok applied to be part of the competitions. Mr . Abisai Josephat Ogutu of  Kilgoris Girls High School Transmara West, Narok County has this to day "I teach Kiswahili and Christian Religious Education (CRE) . The African Digital Schools Initiative (ADSI) programme enabled me to win the Teacher of the Year Award in Transmara West and Narok county as well as finishing at position 5 at the Rift Valley region in 2019.  I attribute this achievement to the experience I gained from my participation and using the ICT skills I have gained. I built my self in self -actualization and my subjects’ mean-scores have shot up tremendously. I sincerely thank the ADSI management and my SBC for giving me the confidence."  Another teacher from Taita Taveta County said " My name is Lonah Jeruto Kosgei, ICT Teacher of the Year  Taita Sub-County, DR.AGGREY HIGH SCHOOL, I teach English Literature.Winning the Taita Sub-county  ICT teacher of the year award and becoming the 2^nd best at the county level, wouldn’t have been possible without Gecsi. I sincerely would like to thank the GESCI/ADSI fraternity for the significant contribution you have made to improve teaching and learning through ICT integration. You are a difference maker, a whole new standard of excellence  for all of us to strive toward. I am  glad to be part of this remarkable  organization. As for me ‘’Aluta continua’’ .” Ms. Grace Mabuto, ADSI teacher from Dr. Aggrey High School as well, was 1st  Runners Up in the category of Teacher of the Year at national level. In Kiambu County, Mr. Moses Njue Mugoh of Precious Blood Kagwe Girls was ICT Teacher of The Year Award winner in Central Region.  Mr. Mugoh had this to say "I Joined GESCI training in the year 2017 where I was inducted in incorporating technology in teaching. I was taught about many skills in TPACK and 21C skills in critical thinking and collaboration integration in lesson design. I was able to use the skills in converting the whole of the business studies syllabus in power point form complete with relevant photos and videos. I incorporated techniques like concept maps, web quests, photo stories, etc which make  lessons interesting. My school was given laptops and projectors by GESCI which facilitates my work.  This enabled me to be declared the ICT Teacher of the Year in Kiambu County and Central region finalist. I thank ADSI through GESCI for their effort in transforming education through Technology." Nyamira County's Livingstone Agwata, Principal Nyakongo Secondary School was awarded Principal of the year at the sub county level. Paul Thairu of Loreto Girls Kiambu and Maxwell Kayesi of Karuri high school in Kiambu are winners of the ICT Teacher of the Year Award (iTOYA)for 2017 and 2018 respectively. GESCI wishes to congratulate all the teachers who participated and for their contributions in transforming teaching and learning in Kenya through integration of ICTs.
