Organized by GESCI, the ceremony will officially award certificates to the senior officials and managers from several ministries of Côte d’Ivoire who have successfully completed the African Leadership in ICT and the Development of Knowledge Society (ALICT) course delivered by GESCI in Côte d’Ivoire in 2015. ALICT - a flagship initiative of the African Union Commission (AUC) delivered by GESCI - aims to build the capacity of leaders to be agents of change for the development of knowledge societies. In a globalized, increasingly competitive and rapidly changing world, the successful integration of ICTs and the strengthening of scientific, technological and innovation skills have become crucial to foster economic and social progress. During the event, ADEA and GESCI will renew the Memorandum of Understanding binding them, which aims at strengthening their collaboration in view of increasing the scope and impact of their respective programmes and activities. In addition, GESCI will announce the launching of the African Digital School Initiative (ADSI) in Côte d’Ivoire in 2017. Two other important events for the education sector in Africa will also be announced: the 2nd Ministerial Forum on the Integration of ICT in Education and the ADEA 2017 Triennale, the most prominent conference on education and training in Africa.
