GESCI and University of Mauritius signs MOU

The Global E-Schools and Communities Initiative (GESCI) and University of Mauritius (UoM) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to deliver the course in “Leadership Development in ICT and Knowledge Society" The purpose of this MoU is to leverage on the GESCI’s expertise in delivering Leadership Development Course towards Knowledge Society Advancement through a blended learning model. GESCI believes that the University of Mauritius, which has a high academic standing, will be an excellent partner in providing leadership development opportunities and graduate accreditation to mid-to-senior level Government officials and officials from state orgnisations. The leadership development course is regarded by the African Union as one of its flagship programmes for African social and economic development.
Mauritius - 12th October 2015- The Global E-Schools and Communities Initiative (GESCI) and University of Mauritius (UoM) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to deliver the course in “Leadership Development in ICT and Knowledge Society The purpose of this MoU is to leverage on the GESCI’s expertise in delivering Leadership Development Course towards Knowledge Society Advancement through a blended learning model. GESCI believes that the University of Mauritius, which has a high academic standing, will be an excellent partner in providing leadership development opportunities and graduate accreditation to mid-to-senior level Government officials and officials from state orgnisations. The leadership development course is regarded by the African Union as one of its flagship programmes for African social and economic development. The MoU was signed between Prof. (Mrs.) Romeela Mohee, Vice Chancellor of University of Mauritius and Mr. Jerome Morrissey, Chief Executive Officer of GESCI at University Offices in Mauritius. Prof (Mrs.) Romeela Mohee said that the partnership is very timely and important for University of Mauritius towards achieving their vision and strategic plan. The partnership strengthens the University of Mauritius aspiration to move towards a global footprint. The CEO of GESCI, Jerome Morrissey said, following our agreement, the collaboration will provide an opportunity and an incentive to programme participants to get accredited Graduate Diplomas in "Leadership in ICT and Knowledge Society Development". He said: “the Leadership development for knowledge society development is at the heart of the newly UN - approved Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and this agreement brings both institutions ahead of the curve in addressing this central goal on an International level”. In this regard, GESCI and the UoM will explore other areas for joint initiatives both in African and beyond.
