Côte d’Ivoire and GESCI sign MoU

GESCI signed an MoU with the Ministry of Education of Côte d’Ivoire on June 8, 2016. The MoU was signed by Hon. Kandia Kamissoko Camara and GESCI’s CEO, Jerome Morrissey, during the 2nd Ministerial Forum on ICT Integration in Education and Training, which took place in Abidjan June 8-9, 2016 www.africaictedu.org Under the agreement, GESCI and Côte d’Ivoire will join efforts to implement Côte d’Ivoire’s strategy to integrate ICT in education, more generally, to facilitate the reform of Côte d’Ivoire’s education system, in view of Côte d’Ivoire’s social and economic transformation. GESCI will implement its ‘African Digital Schools Initiative (ADSI) program in Côte d’Ivoire, with the objective of developing digital schools of excellence, through the relevant and efficient use of ICT. Key characteristics of ADSI schools are quality teaching and learning of Science, Technology and English (STEM) subjects, the effective acquisition of 21st century skills by students and whole school development facilitating the successful integration of ICTs at all levels of the school. ADSI will reach out to 20 secondary schools in Côte d’Ivoire starting 2017. Within the framework of achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs), it is planned that GESCI and the Ministry of Education of Côte d’Ivoire will explore other areas of collaboration, which will aim at improving the quality of teaching and learning, improving access to learning opportunities to all learners, and increasing youth skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
