The Global e-Schools and Communities Initiative (GESCI), in partnership with the African Union Commission and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Finland, has been implementing an 8-month African Leadership in ICT and Knowledge Society (ALICT) course since 2012. There has been exceptionally strong demand for this development course, and it is now been extended to Cote d'Ivoire, Morocco and Senegal. There has been exceptionally strong demand for this development course, and it is now been extended to Cote d'Ivoire, Morocco and Senegal. In order to explore and cement potential synergies, GESCI’s CEO Jerome Morrissey and Senior Programme Development Specialist Tarek Chehidi spearheaded meetings with various government, diplomatic and agency officials in these three countries. The meetings had three objectives: to create awareness about GESCI, to promote and build demand for the ALICT course, and to identify and reach out to prospective collaboration partners. These meetings were part of an itinerary of partnership-building in Morocco, Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal in February 2015. LATIC (Leadership Africain dans les TIC et la Société du Savoir), the Francophone version of ALICT begins on 13 April 2015 and will be provided to mid-to-senior ranking ministry officials from Cote d'Ivoire, Morocco and Senegal. It will run online for 8 months with in-country workshops at the start, mid and end of the course. LATIC course registration began on 9 February 2015 and closed on 13 March 2015. There was strong demand for the 90 available slots.
