On December 14th – 16th a high level regional consultation workshop with key policy, research and ministry official stakeholders was held in Nairobi, Kenya, to help establish the parameters for the ALICT capacity building conceptual framework. The specific objectives of the workshop were:
  • To share a synthesis of inter dependencies between the pillars of the KS as well as the key challenges and opportunities for development towards Inclusive “Knowledge Societies”.
  • To exchange ideas and explore issues on ‘how’ topics for building awareness and leadership capacities on the Knowledge Society themes and issues.
  • To explore through case studies how some countries are making progress towards building Inclusive “Knowledge Societies”.
  • To share views and ideas on the choices and parameters for the ALICT framework and strategy.
We have just published a very comprehensive report of the proceedings of the workshop which include links to four thematic knowledge society papers commissioned by GeSCI and stakeholder presentations from key organizations (including UNECA and the African Union). The report is available for download on the GeSCI site at http://gesci.org/strategic-documents.html strategic-documents.html
