Teachers trained on use of Technology in Teaching and Learning- Pwani Region, Tanzania

GESCI in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Tanzania conducted a successful training for teacher in Pwani region. This is the third training conducted for over 400 teachers in Tanzania under the African Digital Schools Initiative (ADSI) Programme. Teachers speaking after the training talked about the benefits of teaching using ICTs.They mentioned that the level of understanding of concepts among learners has gone up and the performance in exams is exemplary. Salagea Joel, A teacher from Chalinze Secondary School said “ In 2017, we only had 10 A’s in Physics, in 2019, we managed 28 A’s.This is proof that results will keep improving if we fully embrace ICTs in teaching and learning.” Violet Msuya from Bagamoyo Secondary School said students who are taught using ICTs remember concepts easily as they can hear and see at the same time. This training is part of a wider implementation plan of the ADSI programme in Tanzania, Kenya and Cote d’Ivoire.It is funded by Mastercard Foundation, Canada.
