GESCI has just concluded ICT-Based Training for 200 teachers from the Abidjan and Yamoussoukro regions in Cote d’Ivoire. The training on Technology Literacy covers the first cycle of the African Digital Schools Initiative (ADSI) Programme, which seeks to transform 20 secondary schools into Digital Schools of Distinction as models for subsequent scaling. Teachers expressed great enthusiasm for the project as they look forward to incorporating Collaboration and Critical Thinking in their classwork with the assistance of ICT.This phase of teacher training will continue over a period of 8weeks which includes school visits by experts to assist and monitor the incorporation of the newly-acquired 21st century skills in their daily teaching. Further phases of the ICT-based training will be provided to ensure that participant teachers feel competent and knowledgeable to utilize ICT effectively in their teaching, especially in the STEM subjects.
