Millenium@Edu Sustainable Education and GESCI sign partnership agreement

GESCI, June 7, 2016.  The Global e-Schools and Communities Initiative (GESCI) and Millenium@Edu Sustainable Education signed this week a partnership agreement to cooperate in the joint development and promotion of education projects.  The partnership agreement was signed in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on June 7, 2016 by GESCI’s Chief Executive Officer, Jerome Morrissey and the Founder and Chair of Millenium@Edu Sustainable Education, Mario Franco. The signing took place at Abidjan’s Heden Golf Hotel, at a Partners’ meeting organized by GESCI during the 2nd African Ministerial Forum on the Integration of ICT in Education and Training on the theme ‘Advancing Inclusive Knowledge Societies in Africa to implement Africa's Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’.  GESCI and MIllenium@Edu Sustainable Education will collaborate in the areas of digital literacy and e-skills, enhancement of digital learning environments, science and innovation and generally, the integration of ICT in education systems. Their joint efforts will aim at improving teaching and learning and education service provision. The 3-year agreement seeks to help achieve SDG goal N°4 focused on improving the quality of education and in particular target 4.7: “By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development.” Millennium@Edu Sustainable Education is a multistakeholder Initiative to support the development of sustainable education projects addressing educational, economic, social and environmental aspects and supported by technology. Millenium@Edu Sustainable Education stakeholders are committed to promote literacy to help achieve United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in particular quality education.
