It entrenches my belief that whatever little thing you do counts regardless of your position. This award is also a challenge that I must continue doing what I do in a bigger way,” said Esther. “I thank God for this very wonderful gift in my career.” Esther is the Assistant Director Elearning at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD). She has over the years worked in different capacities in the field of elearning – an elearning expert, a curriculum specialist, an instructional designer, a content developer and as an e-learning facilitator. At KICD Esther coordinated the development of digital content to be deployed for class one and two pupils under government of Kenya’s laptop project from May 2013 to June 2014. During the same period, she also coordinated the development of curriculum guidelines for ICT integration and helped develop a training manual and user guide to be used in training teachers who would implement the laptop project. This is not the first of Esther’s awards. She also won the 2011 ‘Technology in Government in Africa (TIGA)’ award and the Public Service Innovators certificate in Kenya in 2012. “The ALICT program opened my mind to a whole different world in elearning. At the moment, I am working on the review of the curriculum guidelines, training manual and user guides for Kenya’s digital literacy program,” says Esther. As an integral part of the African Leadership Development in ICT for the Knowledge Society, Esther was awarded a Graduate Diploma in African Leadership for ICT and the Knowledge Society Development by Dublin City University, Ireland. It is an honor for us in GESCI to have an alumni honored with this international award. Congratulations Esther!
