GESCI has partnered with the African Union Pan-African Institute of Education for Development (IPED), to organise the 4th KIX Knowledge Café on Statistical Processes, taking place virtually on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. EAT.

The Knowledge Café is a country-led peer-learning platform under the Global Partnership for Education GPE KIX Africa 19 Hub. It brings together education policymakers, Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) leads, statisticians, data practitioners, researchers, and development partners to exchange national experiences and identify practical solutions to strengthen education data systems.

This edition will explore the theme “Statistical Processes that make Education Data Credible and Usable.” Discussions will examine the processes between data collection and use, including data validation, quality assurance, harmonisation, documentation, and collaboration between EMIS units and National Statistics Offices.

The Café will feature:
1. Country spotlights from Malawi, Somalia and Sierra Leone
2.A thematic intervention by UNESCO-UIS
3.A presentation of AU-IPED’s EMIS Self-Assessment Platform.

The discussion builds on previous Knowledge Cafés on responsive national EMIS policies and sustainable EMIS financing. The policy briefs that stemmed from these Cafés can be accessed here:
