GESCI in collaboration with the African Union Pan‑African Institute for Education for Development (AU-IPED) and the Ministry of General Education and Instruction of South Sudan, will conduct a capacity-building workshop on Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) in Juba from 16–18 March 2026.

The three-day mission will focus on assessing the current EMIS system in South Sudan and strengthening the capacity of data management officers responsible for education data collection, analysis, and reporting.

The initiative is implemented under the Global Partnership for Education Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX) programme and supports African Union efforts to strengthen education data systems across member states.

Reliable education data plays a critical role in planning, policy formulation, monitoring progress, and ensuring accountability in the education sector, while also supporting countries in tracking progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 4 and the Continental Education Strategy for Africa.

This activity will provide technical insights into the current EMIS architecture and equip national data officers with practical skills to enhance the quality, accessibility, and use of education data in South Sudan.
