Training of Special Needs Teachers in Kenya and Rwanda

Under the framework of the Accessible Digital Textbooks (ADT) project focusing on promoting inclusive education through accessible digital Textbooks, funded by the United Nations Partnership on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD), UNESCO regional office for Eastern Africa with partners is supporting training of teachers on the use of interactive digital textbooks in teaching and adapting content for improving learning outcomes in Kenya and Rwanda.
This training is designed to sensitize and create awareness on inclusive learning with a focus on enhancing accessibility to learning materials through the application of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. The training will also enhance the capacity of teachers on the use of interactive Accessible Digital Textbooks and adapting content in digital formats to improve teaching and learning.
GESCI has developed training materials and will facilitate the 5- day workshop in Kenya and Rwanda respectively.The training in Kenya will take place from  4- 8th October,2021 at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) while in Rwanda the training will take place from 4- 8th October,2021  at University of Rwanda, College of Education-School of Inclusive Education.
A similar training will take place in Uganda from 18th - 22nd October, 2021.
