Facilitating Knowledge Building and Sharing
The integration of ICT in Education, and particularly computers and the internet, is a relatively recent phenomenon in many developing and even developed countries. As such, there is a limited body of knowledge relating to the effective acquisition, deployment, integration and impact of ICT in Education.
GeSCI's appraoch to knowledge building and sharing is two-pronged.On the one hand we identify gaps in capacity and work with our partners to fill them using our own knowledge bank (both actionable and theoretical) and expertise. However, at GeSCI we understand that no one organisation, however replete with experience has the answer. As such we encourage our partners to learn from one another; to share their successes and failures; to advise one another based on their own rich experience and to pool their collective knowledge for the good of each other.
The facilitation of knowledge building and sharing is carried out via the following avenues:
• Internally by GeSCI staff
• Commissioning consultants and researchers
• In collaboration or partnership with other organisations such as NGOs and universities and research networks
• Communities of Practice and Knowledge Forums such ast the African Knowledge Exchange
