GeSCI promotes and facilitates global policy dialogue on ICTs in Education as a way of contributing to the general understanding and development of a knowledge society. We organise and attend high profile meetings together with global partners that bring together key decision makers in education in developing countries.

At the moment GeSCI is leading the UN GAID discussions on ICT4E in preparation for this year’s United Nations Global Alliance for ICT and Development (UN - GAID) annual meeting in Monterey Mexico. The theme of this year’s meeting is ICT and Innovation for Education.

GeSCI has been convening participants on the GAID forum and leading discussions designed to identify those issues most pertinent to this year’s meeting.

GeSCI recently participated at the WSIS Forum 2009 in Geneva where GeSCI’s Asia Regional Coordinator, Ms Ashish Garg, shared GeSCI’s perspective on how ICTs are facilitating the achievement of the Education MDGs in the Indian context.

GeSCI’s CEO Jyrki Pulkkinen raised the question ‘should we critically advocate m-learning?’ during his presentation at the mobile-learning meeting which highlighted the challenges and opportunities afforded to education by portable devices.

GesCI is pleased to be participating in e-Asia 2009, Asia's most prestigious e-learning event which will be held in Sri Lanka from December 2nd - 4th. GeSCI will join its strategic Research & Development partner the Centre for Science Development and Media Studies (CSDMS) for a three day conference replete with ICT experts from the private and public sectors as well as research institutions, NGOs and Civil Society. GeSCI will focus on the critical role of government in fostering ICT innovation in education.
