What is ICT?
ICT is an umbrella term that includes any device, technology or application storing, processing or transmitting information, encompassing: radio, television, cellular phones, computer and network hardware and software, satellite systems, etc. as well as the various services and applications associated with them.
Why does GeSCI have a research programme?
The purpose of GeSCI’s research pogramme is to assist GeSCI partners to develop an understanding of the major challenges of ICT integration in education systems in developing countries. Empowered with scientific advice our developing country partners will be better equipped to effectively deal with these challenges and to strengthen their own capacity to undertake and use research for the development of ICT-Education policy and practice.
Who funds GeSCI?
GeSCI is a UN affiliated organisation funded by Ireland (Irish Aid), Sweden (Sida), Switzerland (SDC), Finland (Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland).
How can I/my organisation support GeSCI?
GeSCI has partners at the local, regional and global levels. See our Engaging with Us page to learn more about how you can support GeSCI.
Why doesn’t my government work with GeSCI?
GeSCI’s mission focuses on developing country governments with an emphasis on least developed. GeSCI is demand-driven, working only in environments where our services are requested. We also adhere to a country selection process which requires countries to meet critical standards of readiness before we can effectively engage with them.
Where does GeSCI work?
GeSCI is currently working at regional level in Africa and Asia. GeSCI also works at the country level in Rwanda and Ghana and continues to lend distant-support to Namibia and India.
Does GeSCI provide computers to schools?
GeSCI does not provide computers to schools or run pilot school programmes. GeSCI works with Ministries of Education to address challenges on a wider-scale and to facilitate the development of policy and the strategic integration of ICT4E.
