Building Capacity for Change
Governments often find themselves in situations where there is pressure to acquire and adopt new technologies without first understanding the potential and reach of the technologies and their suitability to the given context.
GeSCI assists MoEs to develop this understanding through the provision of strategic and technical advice, facilitation of knowledge building and sharing, and the promotion of global dialogue. By building a trusting partnership with GeSCI, MoEs devleop the knowledge, skills and competencies necessary for them to carefully utilise ICT to meet educational priorities and objectives. Through this holistic approach to capacity building, MoEs come to recognise the long-term benefits of strategically integrating ICT in Education rather than seeing ICt as an 'add-on'. MoEs are also empowered to identify contexts in which ICT is not the most suitable intervention, thus saving them time, money and effort.
